General
- What does PASSaGE stand for?
- Pattern Analysis, Spatial Statistics, and Geographic
Exegesis
- What does “Exegesis” mean?
- “Exegesis” means explanation or critical interpretation or reading out the meaning of
something. It is usually used with reference to the written word, particularly religious texts, but
the broader definition may include other topics. “Geographic Exegesis” is therefore the
act of interpreting and drawing out the meaning of geography.
Why “exegesis” and not another word starting with “E” (e.g., explanation)?
It seemed look a good idea at the time.
- How do I cite PASSaGE?
- Please cite the paper officially announcing the program release. It is: Rosenberg, M.S., and C.D. Anderson (2011) PASSaGE: Pattern Analysis, Spatial Statistics and Geographic Exegesis. Version 2.
Methods in Ecology and Evolution 2(3):229-232.
Operating System/Computer Configuration
- Does PASSaGE run under Windows Windows 7?
- Yes. We've only done minimal testing under Windows 7, but PASSaGE appears to run
without any problems.
- Does PASSaGE run under <insert your favorite
operating system here>?
- The GUI version of PASSaGE is design for 32-bit Windows operating systems. The
command-line version can be compiled for many different systems. At this time the following command-line
compilations are available: Win32, Win64, Intel/i386 Mac OS X, PowerPC Mac OS X, and Intel/i386 Linux. Please
contact us if other
operating systems (e.g., DOS, FreeBSD, Mac OS Classic) and/or chipsets (e.g., SPARC,
etc.) are required for the command-line version. While we only have local access to
certain operating systems for testing and compilation purposes, we are happy to work with others to try
and make PASSaGE available for a broader group of systems.
